Faces and Places - Winter 2010

The blink of a camera's shutter forever fixes an instant in time. First Gentleman Bob Eaves invites you to enjoy and reflect on the photographs in the Faces and Places traveling exhibit that capture a varied slice of life in the state through people - young and old - at work or play. These images will transport you from waterfront to Main Street to farm field and allow viewers to share in joyous public celebrations and moments of quiet magic and mystery.

The exhibit features photographs from three sources:

State Archives
Scenes from 1891-1954 selected from the State Archives illuminate just a small part of North Carolina's story and reflect the dedication to work and delight in play of our citizens. This is the first time these images have been on public display.
Press Photographers
The winning photos in this exhibit capture the diversity of North Carolina and demonstrate the creative art of photography. North Carolina Press Photographers make our lives richer, improve our understanding of who we are, and shine a light on notable events of the day. We thank them for their contributions to this exhibit.
State Fair
There was a "Whole Lot of Happy" at the N.C. Department of Agriculture 2009 State Fair! The Blue Ribbon winners from across the state have captured priceless moments from the Blue Ridge Mountains to Topsail Beach. Each of the winning photographs from the 2009 State Fair shares its own magic and majesty.
